How to Wash Activewear (So It Lasts)

Activewear is made to move with you—whether you’re putting in reps at the gym, sweating through a hot yoga class, or just running errands. To keep your pieces looking and feeling like new, a little extra care goes a long way! So follow these simple tips to help your activewear last longer:

1. Wash in cold water. Heat can break down stretchy fabrics like spandex and elastane. Stick to cold water to preserve elasticity and color.

2. Skip the fabric softener. While it makes clothes feel cozy, fabric softener actually clogs the fibers of activewear, trapping odors and reducing breathability.

3. Turn pieces inside out. This protects bold colors and prints while ensuring sweat and oils get washed away.

4. Use a gentle detergent. Harsh formulas can wear down technical fabrics. A mild, sport-specific detergent works best.

5. Air dry whenever possible. The dryer’s heat can cause shrinkage and weaken fibers. Lay flat or hang dry to extend the life of your leggings, sports bras, and tops.

Taking a few extra steps helps your favorite pieces last longer, perform better, and be worth more when you are ready to sell them for something new!
