Founder’s Letter

When I started Revive, I didn't have the words for it yet, but I was looking for a way out. Out of corporate structures. Out of the only way of working I'd ever known. I was searching for something to call my own, a way to connect with the community, and work that actually felt meaningful.

Revive gave me all of that.

It showed me that it's possible to love what you do and feel genuinely fulfilled by it. It helped me build a strong sense of community in a city I'd moved to only a few years before. Suddenly I was surrounded by people — customers, fellow business owners, neighbors — and so many of them have become some of my closest friends.

I created Revive because I wanted something that didn't exist yet: a place to shop secondhand for the brands I love, in the way I actually want to shop — curated, clean, and intentional. What I didn't expect was how many other people had been quietly wanting the same thing.

That idea changed my life. And now I want to share it!

Every time a customer walks into the store and says, "I wish this existed in my city" — and it happens more than you'd think — I'm reminded that Revive was never meant to stay in Portland. This concept belongs in more cities, with more communities, and with owners who are just as passionate about it as I am.

My dream is to build and support a network of Revive owners who don't just benefit from the playbook I've spent years developing — but who also have each other. Because being a business owner, especially of a unique concept, can be lonely. Having a community of people who get it, who are living the same thing you are, would have meant everything to me in the beginning. That's what I want to create for you.

  1. Lower startup costs than you'd expect. Opening a retail business from scratch is expensive. With Revive, you skip the trial-and-error costs of building a brand, developing systems, and figuring out what works. You're starting at step ten, not step one.

  2. A brand that already has a following. Revive isn't an untested idea — it's a concept that has been built, refined, and loved by a real community. You're not asking your city to take a chance on something new. You're bringing them something they didn't know they were missing.

  3. A fully developed brand identity, ready to go. Building a brand from scratch — the logo, the colors, the feel, the voice — takes years and costs more than most people expect. As a Revive licensee, all of that is already done. You'll have access to a complete visual identity and brand system that customers already recognize and trust, so you can open your doors looking and feeling like an established business from day one.

  4. Built-in marketing support from the start. When you open a Revive location, you're not starting from scratch with a megaphone and a prayer. New licensees are introduced to Revive's existing customer community — people who already love the brand and have been waiting for it to come to their city. From social media announcements to word-of-mouth within the Revivalist community, you'll have marketing support behind your launch and beyond.

  5. Proven processes, so you can focus on people. From inventory management to customer experience, the operational playbook has already been written. You don't have to figure it out as you go — you can spend your energy on what matters most: building your community.

  6. The Revive Playbook. Years of real-world learning, distilled into a resource built specifically for Revive owners. It covers the things no one tells you when you're starting out — and the things that actually make the difference.

  7. A network of owners who get it. You won't be doing this alone. As part of the Revive licensing family, you'll have a community of fellow owners to share wins with, troubleshoot alongside, and lean on when business ownership feels hard. Because sometimes it does — and having people who truly understand makes all the difference.

  8. Direct access to the founder. Laura built Revive from the ground up and has navigated everything you're about to face. As a licensee, you'll have real access to her — not a ticketing system or a FAQ page. Someone who is genuinely invested in your success.

  9. You're riding a wave, not betting against one. The secondhand market is one of the fastest-growing segments in retail, and activewear sits at the center of a lifestyle that isn't going anywhere. Consumers are shopping more intentionally, spending more on wellness, and actively looking for sustainable alternatives to fast fashion. Revive sits exactly at that intersection — and the timing has never been better to bring it to your city.

  10. A mission that means something. Revive was built on the belief that you shouldn't have to choose between the brands you love and the values you hold. Every piece of clothing that gets a second life is one less item in a landfill — and customers feel that. In a world where people increasingly want to spend their money in ways that align with their values, a business with a genuine sustainability mission isn't just feel-good. It's a competitive advantage.
