How To Style Track Pants
Track pants are turning into the new leggings, so as always, we’re sharing our favorite tips for styling this activewear trend for any occasion:
Movement
First and foremost, track pants are perfect for many different types of movement! Pair them with a t-shirt or sweatshirt and your favorite sneakers for an afternoon walk, a Lululemon Align tank or your favorite sports bra for your next pilates class, or layer them over leggings or biker shorts coming to/from a sweaty workout!
Casual Night Out
Dress up your track pants (aka the perfect pants to wear for a big meal out) by pairing them with an oversized sweater, a silk tank and leather jacket, or a long sleeve with a little sheen or sparkle! Add layered necklaces, statement earrings, or even a belt to really elevate the look.
Work Event / Business Casual Setting
Strike the balance between comfort and professionalism by pairing a more tailored pair of track pants with a crisp button-down or blazer. Bring the whole look together with a pair of loafers, block heels, or sleek flats.
Final Styling Tips & Notes
Proportion is everything. Combine the relaxed bottom of a track pant with a more structured or fitted top (and vice versa) to avoid a sloppy silhouette.
Mind your fabrics. Track pants in polished fabrics (coated, ponte, twill blends) elevate the look more than sporty mesh or jersey styles.
Neutral base, accent pieces. Let the track pant be your foundation; use shoes, jackets, and accessories to signal your intent (sporty / casual / semi-formal).
Tailoring matters. If your track pants are long, consider hemming or cuffing them so they don’t pool at your ankles — especially in the dinner or work versions.
Confidence is key. Wear it like it’s meant to be dressed up — that mindset helps sell the look.
